UPSC exam results: KR Nandini tops


The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday declared the results civil services examination. KR Nandini has been declared the topper.

The Union Public Service Commission declared the final results of the civil services examination 2016 on its official website on Wednesday.
Candidates can check their results by clicking here or at the bottom of the story. A PDF file containing details about the results and complete list of candidates who have qualified will be displayed on the screen.
Karnataka girl Nandini KR topped the examination. Nandini belongs to the OBC category. She qualified with Kannada Literature as her optional subject. She is a civil engineering graduate from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore.
As many as 1,099 candidates have been recommended for various government services. There are 220 other candidates in the waiting list
PTI quoted the topper as saying that she always wanted to be an IAS officer. In 2015 too, a girl from Delhi, Tina Dabi, topped the exam.
As many as 180 successful candidates will be appointed in the IAS, 45 in the IFS, 150 in the IPS and 834 in other central group A and B services.
Among the successful candidates, 500 belong to the general category, 347 to the Other Backward Class category followed by 163 from Scheduled Castes and 89 from Scheduled Tribe categories.
Highlights of civil services results 2016
* Preliminary exam was conducted on August 7 last year.
* In all, 11,35,943 candidates applied for preliminary exam but only 4,59,659 candidates actually appeared. 

* Following the preliminary exam, 15,452 candidates qualified for appearance in the written (main) examination that was held in December, 2016.
* Only 2,961 candidates qualified for the personality test
* Among the successful 1099 candidates, 846 are males and 253 females. They also include 44 physically handicapped candidates (22 orthopedically handicapped, seven visually challenged and 15 hearing impaired).
* Anmol Sher Singh Bedi, overall rank second but topper among male candidates. He is computer science graduate from BITS, Pilani.
* Among the top 25 candidates comprise of 18 men and seven women.

OTET 2017 – Notification, Exam Dates, Application Form

OTET 2017 is supposed to be held in the month of September 2017 in order to determine the eligibility of the teachers in the schools of Odisha. It is the state level test which is quite compulsory for all the B.Ed qualified candidates. The OTET 2017 is conducted every year by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha.

OTET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility norms for the OTET 2017 Exam are published. The candidate must check his eligibility before proceeding further. The candidates should know the importance of their eligibility.

For Paper 1:
The Senior secondary is required with at least 50% aggregate marks and two years diploma in elementary education.

For paper 2:
Graduation is required with the minimum 50% aggregate marks and a diploma in elementary education.

OTET 2017 Application Form

The candidate can proceed towards the application form only after fulfilling the eligibility conditions. The form for OTET 2017 Exam is expected to be released in the month of August 2017. Read the relevant details here.

The candidate can apply only in the online mode as no other modes will be accepted.
The amount of fee is Rs 350 which will be paid only through the SBI challan mode.
The candidate must have to upload his latest photograph in the jpeg format.
The registration number and password will be sent through email or SMS.

OTET 2017 Exam pattern

The exam pattern presents the snapshot of the main examination and provides the rough idea. It comprises of time duration, mode of examination and the marking scheme.

There are two papers namely Paper 1 (For class I to V) and Paper 2 (For class VI – VIII).
The exam is of objective type with four alternatives.
There will no negative marking.
Each question consists of 1 mark.
There are 150 questions in total.

The Admit card for OTET 2017 will be released in the month of September 2017 for the candidates who have submitted their application forms before the deadline. It is the must to bring some other identity proof like Voter card, PAN card etc along with the admit card.

    Banaras Hindu University is an internationally reputed temple of learning, situated in the holy city of Varanasi. This Creative and innovative university was founded by the great nationalist leader, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, in 1916 with the cooperation of great personalities like Dr Annie Besant, who viewed it as the University of India. Banaras Hindu University was created under the Parliamentary legislation – B.H.U. Act 1915.
